Currently, there is no doubt that social media has taken over a person’s daily routine. There are hundreds of social media platforms, and billions of users in each, which makes it ideal for marketing and promotional campaigns.

Promoting on social media does not equate to merely sharing and posting your content’s links, though.

This won’t be effective if you are not putting in the effort to provide a context.

Today, I have prepared five simple ways to promote blog posts with social media. By the end of this tutorial, you can start working on these techniques and improve your site’s traffic.

1. Share Your Content on Many Platforms

First, you have to know that you have to be very available by promoting on social media. This means that instead of settling with just one platform or only signing up for the most popular ones, you should expand your resources.

Doing this will attract different sets of audiences.

Here is a list of social networking sites that you should consider.

First, the ones with the most users:

  • Facebook – This is an all-around platform that has approximately 2.6 billion active users. You have two choices: first is to create a page dedicated to your blog site or register for an account. Either way, you can get to share your content for free.
  • Instagram – This, on the other hand, is visual-based. This means that images and videos are the centers of attention. Currently, this has 1 billion active users.
  • Twitter – Twitter majors in short captions and not too much on media attachments. Consider this for simple promoting layouts.
  • LinkedIn – This is specifically for professionals and content creators. This is a good platform for building your name around your niche.
  • YoutubeCreating Youtube videos about your niche can also help promote your blogs. This may need more effort than others, though, because of the video creation process.

The platforms above are recommended if you only starting out.

Other sites that you can look into are:

  • Quora, and Reddit – These two sites are discussion forums. To share content, you have to answer inquiries to help others.

In choosing what social media sites to use, you have to look at factors like its purpose, limitations, and the type of posts you can do with it to see if it will fit your niche.

2. Engage with Other Users

Besides focusing on your account, you should also strive to establish a relationship with your potential readers. This will help you build a stable audience base that will be your constant traffic source for your content.

Here are the things that you can do:

  • Like and/or react to their comments

If a comment does not need any reply, a set of emojis, for example, you can still show your appreciation by liking them.

The current version of Facebook provides different reactions to better show how you feel. Aside from this, some platforms like Twitter and Tumbler allow you to repost them.

  • Reply to their remarks

Another source of engagement is through replying. This isn’t limited to questions. Some users tend to share their own experiences related to the topic, which you can empathize with. This can be a good way to start a conversation.

  • Take their suggestions into consideration

Note that for your audience to actually look forward to your content, you should put out something that they want and need. You can get ideas occasionally from their statements and messages.

  • Collaborate with other creators

Apart from your audience, you can also consider doing content collaborations with other creators. They don’t necessarily have to have the same niche. As long as they have the same goals as you, you can do articles to educate each other.

Engaging with other social media users can make them feel acknowledged and recognized. This means that you have a higher chance of winning them and convincing them to support your site and your content.

3. Provide Enticing Captions

A common mistake that others make is thinking that providing links is enough. They don’t describe who they are and what they want people to do with their links, which can only bring confusion and fruitless results no matter how long you wait.

Instead, what you want to do is to construct a well-written caption. This will improve your communicating abilities.

Below are the traits of a good caption:

  • Clear

If your message can’t be understood, then there will be no point, no matter how long it is. Avoid beating around the bush and provide enough details for the reader to comprehend.

  • Concise

You should also be mindful of your caption’s length. Note that you are already sharing your content, so there is no need to share too much information. Instead, type in a quick summary so people have an overview of what they can expect.

  • Catchy

Being catchy means that your caption has the ability to attract your audience’s attention in a quick glance. You will need wit and some humor to achieve this. You can insert quotes, a joke, or a popular slang related to your content.

Again, without captions, you’re just making your audience guess what your post is about. You have to spend extra time to avoid misunderstandings and messages taken out of context.

4. Use Appealing Media

Along with the caption, you should also attach images and/or videos to further enhance your post’s aesthetics.

You need to consider the following things when choosing a media:

  • Relevance

Evidently, you only have to include images and/or videos related to your current topic. It won’t make sense if not so.

  • Uniqueness

The problem with getting stock images is that they have probably been used by other creators. This means that many readers have probably already seen them, and their response would be just to ignore them. You need something new.

To do this, consider taking pictures and videos of your own. If you can’t do this, learn the basics of editing and graphic design. If you have any choice other than stock images, don’t settle for those that appear on top of the search results.

  • Must Tell A Story

Most of all, your audience should be able to deduce what you want to say just by looking at the media you used. If your attachment can do this, then you can be assured that you’re on the right track.

The images and videos that you will attach do not necessarily have to be taken by you. You can search through stock galleries; most of them are available for free. Taking pictures without the owner’s consent, though, is prohibited. You may get sued for that.

5. Build a Community

The last method that we’re going to discuss involves building a community. Most, if not all, social platforms have a function that allows users to create their own groups. These groups can either be public or private, depending on your goal.

However, since we are talking about content promotion, it is recommended that you set a public group so anyone can access it.

This increases the possibilities of engagements and interactions. Moreover, doing this will also make it easier for you to communicate with a consistent audience.

Summary: Simple Ways to Promote Blog Posts with Social Media

In social media advertising, you have to focus on both the quality and quantity of the audience you will get. The platform plays a large part in your gathered results, so it will need hands-on management throughout.

You should also keep in mind that even if you do all the things above without error, it will still take time for you to achieve all of your goals.
